Religion, Adoption Addressed In One NJ Assembly Bill

Private adoption agencies, the courts, and the state would have to maintain a child’s religious upbringing when placing a child with a guardian, into foster care, or into an adoptive home under a bill approved by an Assembly panel. The legislation is sponsored by Assembly Democrats Gary Schaer, Pamela Lampitt and Upendra Chivukula.

Teen Tanning Bed Ban Legislation Sails Through Assembly Committee [AUDIO]

The story of the New Jersey mother accused of taking her then 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth last month where the kindergartener allegedly sustained serious burns has gone global. The so-called tanoholic mom was even parodied during a recent Saturday Night Live sketch. Yesterday, the Assembly Women and Children Committee approved a bill that would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to use an indoor tanning facility.

Could Red Light Cameras Soon Be Banned in NJ? [AUDIO/POLL]

State Senator Mike Doherty has introduced a bill to ban municipalities from using red light camera systems which detect violations of traffic control signals and automate the process of issuing tickets to drivers. He explains, “I don’t like the idea of ‘Big Brother’ watching us on every street corner and I don’t see any evidence that it’s made New Jersey’s roads any safer.”
